Alarm and CCTV Monitoring

Alarm & CCTV Monitoring

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF CCTV INSTALLATION AND MONITORING?

Whether your business consists of commercial properties such as office buildings or retail outlets, a careful consideration of integrated and expansive security solutions is a must. Cameras equipped with CCTVs are not only easy to maintain and conspicuous in their absence from the public eye but are also much more cost-effective than many other security solutions. CCTV cameras can be placed in a location of your own choosing, and do not require extensive modifications to your existing infrastructure. While there are many CCTV camera systems you can choose from, some of the main things to keep in mind include the resolution, sharpness, angle of coverage, and availability of Infrared (for night time), amongst others. It is also important to understand that although CCTV cameras are primarily installed for video surveillance and to discourage thieves and other criminal activity, they can also help to improve the efficiency and productivity level of your employees.

  • Prevent and Reduce Chances of Theft

  • Useful to catch Criminal Evidence

  • Better Employee Productivity

  • Improve Your Customer’s Experience

  • Cut Down Security-related Costs

  • Monitor High-risk Areas

  • Fool-proof Coverage

CCTV Regulations

If your business uses CCTV, you must register your details with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and pay a data protection fee, unless you are exempt. We can advise on how to check if you need to pay the data protection fee.

You must also:

  • Tell people they may be recorded, usually by displaying signs, which must be clearly visible and readable

  • Control who can see the recordings

  • Make sure the system is only used for the purpose it was intended for - for example, if it was set up to detect crime, you must not use it to monitor how much work your staff do

A full consultation and Risk Assessment with a qualified consultant is available with Sentinel Security and Consultancy Services and we do advise this to ensure you know your legal obligations and requirements, as well as to reduce and minimise the risk of crime against your staff and business.

Alarm monitoring is quick and detailed communication between your commercial security system and the central station of your security provider. Your control panel registers an emergency event and sends a signal to the central monitoring station, where the appropriate authorities are notified. Key Holding and Response works very well alongside CCTV and Alarm Monitoring.

Some alarm systems serve a single purpose of burglary protection; combination systems provide both fire and intrusion

protection. Intrusion alarm systems may also be combined with CCTV systems to automatically record the activities of intruders and may interface to access control systems for electrically locked doors.

Systems range from small, self-contained noisemakers, to complicated, multirally systems with computer monitoring and control.
